Sat Sri Akaal

I just have a quick question, could someone please tell me is ok for Sikh's to read hands and more specifically those who have taken Amrit? I have been led to believe all my life that it is wrong for Sikh's to dabble in such things.

I am not Amritdhari but most of my family are, recently I saw quite a few family members (mostly Amritdhari) having their hands read and the person reading their hands (also an Amritdhari) was telling everyone about what the future had in store for them. Admittedly the woman reading the hands was not taking money or anything but still is it not wrong to do this and especially as it contradicts a lot of what Sikhi stands for (or so I thought)

Sat Siri Akaal. If you search this site using keywords punditry, astrology, face reading in the search bar, you will see similar posts to this query.
It is not wrong, in and of itself, to 'read hands'. Sometimes it's fun to see what someone says. What IS wrong is for the Sikh DOING the reading, or the Sikh RECEIVING the reading, to take it so seriously that they forget Guru and Guru's influence in their lives. This is especially so for Amritdhari Sikhs. The Gurus really got peeved at people who created self-fulfilling prophecies by taking a single seer/pundit/astrologer's words as the Word of God. My own experience is that Guru is so far above and beyond astrology, numerology, hand lines, etc. Really. Nothing in my adult life has happened according to my 'birth chart'-- for whatever reason. So, one can have fun with such things, but taking it seriously and basing one's actions on such things is what's wrong for a Gursikh.
