Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

I am writing to you because in a few weeks we will be doing an akand path in our new home. The Akand Path is not merely as a celebration of the new home but to give us peace in our new home. However, a lot of people feel family gathering together can cause emotions such jealously, rivalary and judgement of others. I would like all members of my family to understand the meaning of a
Akand Path and be able to learn something from it. Akand Path's I've experienced have been about family getting together and catching up and people judging what somebodies daughter has been wearing or what shes been upto etc.
When sending out the invitations I would like to produce some information about what a akand path means and its significance. Do you know where I may be able to find any information? I feel if I send information people will not misplace cards or put them on the floor since they will have religious things written inside. Thank you

Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji ki Fateh! How about writing a lovely message (and having it printed on beautiful invitation paper) telling people that you are inviting them to your home, not as a social occasion, but to add their prayers to the blessings of the Akandh Path that is being held with reverence and respect so that Guru will bless your home. You could thank them in advance for coming with an attitude of reverence and respect. As to how successful you will be in changing the cultural pattern, I don't know, but I certainly agree with you that wherever an Akandh Path is held, whether in a home or a formal Gurdwara, the type of behavior and comments you mention are not appropriate. May God and Guru bless you and your home.
