I know a lot of guys and girls that are born in Sikh family cut their hair. So are they considered to be Sikhs still or not? If they’re not consider to be a Sikh then why do Sikh Priest perform/let clean slaven Sikhs get marry in their temple? Also why do a lot of turbaned wearing Sikhs consider clean slaven Punjabis (the one that are born in Sikh family) like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Udam Singh and Shaheed Bhai Harjinder Singh Parha to be Sikhs?

(REPLY) Sat Nam. It is up to God and Guru to decide who is a Sikh. A Sikh is a "student of Truth." Those who keep the five "k"s are willing to be identified as Sikhs, they aspire to be Khalsa Sikhs. It takes courage, faith and commitment to be keep the form of a Sikh. But remember, HariMandir Sahib was bilt with four doors, open to all four winds, to indicate that all people are welcome there. Let us judge only ourselves: are we doing our best to live up to what our Gurus taught? Are we inspiring others to chant the Nam? SP
