how can we live a sikh way of life when we are living in britain in a multicultural society.when our elders dont set any good standards and our families are full of hypocrisy

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Each person is responsible for how he or she lives-- given whatever restrictions parents place on us when we are children. But ultimately, if your soul is strong enough, not matter what anyone else is doing or not doing, you will honor your identity as a Sikh of the Guru. Some people have maintained their faith in spite of persecution and torture. Some get tested more than others. This life is temporary, and if we are wise, we use it to establish a strong and continuous communication and connection with God and Guru -- no matter what anybody else does. Guru Nanak established the basic standards, and Guru Gobind Singh finalized them. They are your role models so that you become a role model yourself. You belong to a new generation which is able to see through the hypocrisy around you -- and it's your responsibility to maintain your own dignity and grace in every and any situation or circumstance, and hopefullly, you'll eventually be able to pass that example on to your children. May God and Guru bless you and give you the courage and wisdom to fulfill your destiny. SP
