Hello, I have a bit of a dillemma, My parents and my other family members believe in and worship one of my passed away family members from a long time ago, and also believe in some type of baba that our family has worshipped for many generations. My aunt back in India claims to have periods where these baba's come into her and speak to her, well my parents are telling me that i should also believe in these things and that my life will basically be miserable if i choose not to believe in them. I have repeatedly told them that i will not bow down or worship these peoplw because it is condemned in the SGGS and that i beleve in only one god. They don't listen to anything i say and tell me that this is a tradition and should be followed, what should i do?

Sat nam. You are correct. This practice of your relatives is not in accord with Sikhi. It may be a family tradition, but it is not a SIKH tradition. If you have to show up and pretend in order to keep family peace, that is not the worst thing in the world. As you bow you can be reciting Sat Nam Waheguru in your mind and picturing yourself bowing before Siri Guru Granth sahib, and Guru will understand your intentions and know your heart. Guru ang sang,
DKK
