Summary of Question:Miracles In Modern World?

The thing that i've always admired as a sikh in sikhism is the way the Gurus, sri Guru Arjun Dev ji, sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji and sikh warriors such as Baba Deep Singh ji were so fearlessly able to keep their faith strong as steel in the events of the tortures they faced from the mughals. What really astounded me also was that they uttered no cries of pain or anything despite the gruesome tortures they were put through. Do you think in the world we live in this present a sikh can actually go through this type of pain all the while chanting waheguru. like say for example: your being beaten up by a group of thugs with weapons like chains and bats and stuff is it possible to have an incapability of feeling pain like Guru Arjun dev ji if all the while during the beating we're trying to chant wahegurus name? Please answer back soon.

I think Sikhs today face different kinds of challenges. Instead of there being physical tortures as existed in their day, we go through different agonies. We are challenged with the maya of modern society; daring to stand for what we believe (which is not so different than what Guru Gobind Singh taught). We have to face the challenge of strange diseases and illnesses. People now-a-days have a lot of mental and emotional "torture". It is expressed right here on the Sikh Youth Forum; it is expressed everyday in our newspapers; it is expressed in our workplaces and schools. Human suffering and challenges will never change or end. What matters is how we deal with those challenges in life. Never before is practicing the Naam and utilizing its power more appropriate and needed than right now in this 21st Century. What gave the Gurus the faith and strength they had to go through such hardships was the Naam. They were not Gods, they were human, but through the Naam, they tapped into the God within them and were able to accomplish superhuman endurance. We need superhuman endurance today as well, which is at our disposal if we chant the Naam. GTKK
