When guru nanak ji introduced sikhi it was equal

When guru gobind singh ji introduced khalsa were women a part of it?
In that day and age women were seen as passive and were mainly house wives (as far as i know). Guru Gobind singh ji was a warrior, he introduced khalsa and turned sikhs into warriors (i think) as in that day and age it was neccessary to keep sikhi alive.
Women were not seen as being capable as being warriors. They were strong women but they were not worriors, so how is it equal? I dont kbow if im making sence but what i mean to say is when khalsa was first formed women were not really a part of it. All the shaheeds we see are men. in that day and age women did not fight for what they believed in, the khalsa was formed for men, was it not as when khalsa was formed it was formed with men in mind.

Also guru nanak ji spread the word of peace and love
Guru Gobind singh ji was a warrior
isnt it a bit of a contradiction
im just a bit confused - as you can probably tell

Plz reply

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Yes, the first Guru, Guru Nanak, taught peace and love. This is still the ideal. If you look at Sikh history, you will find that it was necessary to be able to defend righteousness, and so we are not pacifists. Guru Gobind Singh said the "ONLY when all other means have failed is it righteous to take up the sword." He was a warrior -- and a saint! (and a great poet!) Have you heard of the women who showed tremendous courage and bravery, for instance the ones who were going to war when the "40 liberated ones" ran away from battle? Khalsa is for men and women. WE had the blessings of 10 Gurus in human form -- admittedly, none were women -- but each one brought a new dimension to the overall blueprint for ALL people to live righteously. Women take Amrit, in fact in Americ, we have had Amritdhari women in the Panj to administer Amrit! I hope this helps a little. Blessings, SP
