My dear,
This is a very good question.

The writings of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib use the Hindu and Muslim references as metaphors and examples as a base for us to understand Gurus' words/Bani.

Keep in mind that the prevailing religion at this time was not Sikh. The many Saints' hymns that were placed in SGGS by Guru Arjan Dev were all songs explaining the ONENESS of God and Creation and how best to acheive this and in contrast how the prevailing religious thought did not work.
Sikh's did not really formally exist until Guru Gobind Singh created the form of the Khalsa and the Rehit Maryada.

Enjoy reading the Siri Guru Granth Sahib and read more to understand the history of the religious thinking that brought about the advent of our 10 human Guru's and how important it is that we have the 'Living Word of God' as our Guru now.

Blessings to you,
SKKK
