I would like to make a comment on the amritari subject. It is true in this age there has been a divide into what amritari actually means. Some say that it essential, whilst others say its of no use and one can be a full sikh. My thoughts are that if you want to call yourself a Sikh, Khalsa, Gursikh, whatever they all mean the same thing one has to follow all the Guru's Lessons. We cannot just pick and chose what we like from a particular Guru amd then say well im a Sikh. Thsi dosnt mean you are a bad person only that we have to think about what a Sikh is and that lable doasnt and should just come to anyone. The sweat, hard work and effort and dicipline that goes into being a Sikh, only the rare few actually undertand. So my point is amrit alone isnt what makes you a Sikh, a Sikh is one who has a balance of all things from Guru Nanak to Guru Gobind. The funny theing is and the reason i respect our religion so much is that people continue to make their own logic up and feed it to the world but thanks to the Guru's we just refer back to Granth Sahib Ji that is the holy word from the mouth. So if Guru Gobind Singh Ji said for one to become a fully pledged Sikh he is to take Amrit then we are nobody to argue! What is the difference you ask? It is not just amrit that makes them diferent, one who has honestly taken amrit and accepted it has 100% commited him/herself. Now you may think well so what? A non amritari to put it in wierd terms has given himslef up and his head is ready to be cut in a video game where once its cut, its not! A Amritari takes his head and has it removed in reality!!

Also i would like to add that we should all stop and think. If your going to be a Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Jew or whatever do it true. There are so many religions and these so called religious people fight with other religions. There are so many sects of people beliveing in certain beleifs that fight amongst each other and religion. Then we have the Atheists who in a way are a mere cult in its self that fights with all religions. The whole world just debates. They see othert faiths and other belifs and find no peace within themselves. I ask all the true follows to repects and never slander a belief as it is you that will always have the problem and never find peace. Walk the earh and find peace and Anand. It is the true followers who are and should be called by their religious name. A true muslim is no different from a Tru Sikh. This is the true religion in which one must find the compnay. Thank YOu.
Waheguru
(REPLY) Sat Nam. thank you for your comments. I think they are worth sharing with our readers, some of whom will still debate about Amrit - and what constitutes a Sikh! In my understanding, the identity of a Sikh is something only Guru can determine and we each live according to what we believe. Certainly, from the teachings and life examples of Guru Nanak to Guru Gobind Singh we have been given a blueprint for living, and this has been solidified and confirmed (stamped and sealed and delivered!) in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, our living Guru. God and Guru bless you. SP
