Summary of Question:Non-Vegetarian

Dear Sadth Sangat,

I have done a lot of research that how many sikh people follow the true path. But i felt very bad, when i found that most about 80% of sikhs whom i met or i know very well are non-vegetarian. Why sikh people are non-vegetarian even they know that is against their religion. And by eating meat, they are doing lot of paap as they know it very well. I still need to know why they do this.

P.s- I didn't put this question to hurt others' feeling, i am not professional

in writting so if you find any mistake, please feel free to tell me.

Dear One:

Sat Siri Akaal Ji. Sikhs who eat meat do so for a variety of excuses, frankly. There are those who believe that since Guru Gobind Singh hunted that it's OK to eat meat. There are those who feel Guruji did not tell us to stay away from meat, and the Rehat Maryada as published by the SGPC says that Sikhs can eat meat as long as it's not halal meat (where the animal died slowly),--this is no help on this matter, is it? There are those who eat it for convenience and out of habit. There are those who don't care that Guruji told us not to eat meat.
The best we can do is set an example of being vegetarian and pray that our Sikh brothers and sisters choose conciously to follow the teaching Guruji gave us on this matter.
There are MANY other posts on this topic here. Please search Sikhnet Youth Forum using searchwords "vegetarian" or "meat".
God bless you,
-DKK
