Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa

Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh

I was searching sikhnet before I proceeded in asking this question but the answer was not found. I was just wondering if girls are allowed to wear tampons as opposed to wearing pads while they are menstruating. I know some religions say is it not right, but what does Sikhi have to say about that?. As a woman I feel pads are un-comfortable when playing sports or going out, so is wearing a tampon an allowed alternative?

Also, if you are a baptized Sikh women, what do you wear when you are menstruating as wearing a kachahrah does not support a pad as well as women's underwear. I hope you don't find these two questions silly, I was just curious.

Your questions are not silly at all. First, when wearing kacheras, it is perfectly fine to wear underwear under them. The purpose of kacheras is for the air circulating on the legs; underwear does not prevent that. It is better to wear a pad, but when it is appropriate, wearing a tampon is fine. Just make sure that you change them atleast every 4 hours, because you can get an infection otherwise. GTKK
