I said nothing says you have to be a virgin at the time of marriage. If a Sikh who has had non-marital sex with someone chooses to take Amrit, does this mean they cannot because s/he is not a virgin? Does it mean they cannot be married in a Sikh Gurdwara because s/he is not a virgin?

Let's be real here. Fact is, many young adults today who consider themselves Sikhs are NOT virgins when they marry. I didn't say that it was 'right' or 'wrong' for this to be the case; it is an IDEAL for both bride and groom to be a virgin when they first marry, but not a REQUIREMENT. I also made a clear distinction between amritdhari and non-amritdhari, because breaking a sacred vow made during baptism is a whole different matter with heavier karmic consequences. I am simply stating a reality.

Some Sikhs divorce and remarry, does that make them sinners too? Some Sikhs have their spouses die and they remarry, does this make them sinners? Many queries on this forum are from people who question if they can be FORGIVEN for having sex outside of/before marriage with someone who they probably won't marry. While it is preferable to have sex ONLY with one's spouse after marrying, that is not always the case in reality. People make mistakes, from which they often learn. This too, is Guru's instruction. God forgives his devotees, remember this! If He didn't we'd never escape the rounds of births and deaths.
Guru ang sang,
