Dear One:
Sat Siri Akaal. Prashad is given to the Sangat after the Hukam is read. It is symbolic of the abundance and sustenance that we receive from the Guru, and that everything coming to us in life is the Guru's gift (prashad) and is therefore sweet. The recipe is said to be that of Guru Gobind Singh. Thus, any other kinds of sweets, etc, are NOT considered karah prashad. They can, however, still be blessed with kirpan during Ardas.

This tradition of distribution of Prasaad was first initiated by Guru Nanak, to eliminate the class distinctions among members of his congregation by having everyone served from the same bowl.

For a recipe, search Youth Forum using keywords "making prashad" and you will find it.
