Sat Nam! The best way to become a Sikh is to live as a Sikh.
Being a Sikh is about a way of living. It's about living with deep courage, strength and grace. It's about rising before the sun and meditating on the Infinite. It's about reciting and understanding your NitNem and the other shabds of the Gurus. It's about earning your living righteously and sharing with others. It's about serving people, and about being served with grace. It's about living in universality and treating and serving all people the same. It's about living in your own excellence.
There is no initiation. Only you can initiate yourself.
When you have initiated yourself, you must initiate yourself every day to live each day in the consciousnesss and calibre of a Sikh.
When you are ready to receive Amrit, you will know it.
It is a matter of the heart, not the head. When you give your head to your Guru, you have no head. You have only your heart.
Between a Sikh and his Guru is just a matter of time.
Many blessings to you on your journey.
