Our first Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, taught us that there should be no caste system as all people are equal. This teaching was later reinforced by Guru ka Langar, where every person no matter who they are or where they come from sits at the same level and eats of the same food.
The modern day caste system comes from a more cultural background rather then a religious one. I do not believe this would be a sin.
However, I think the more appropriate question is how strongly does your family relate to this system and how would this affect your relationship with family and your girl friend. If they do not approve, this does not necessarily mean the marriage should not happen. These are just things to take into consideration. How it would affect you and what you are willing to do for this relationship.
