Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
Sat Siri Akal.
Guru Gobind Singh's spirit went through a number of incarnations, developing and growing with each rebirth. Finally, he had a life filled with meditation and, at Hemkunt Sahib, he realized his Oneness with God. The name of that meditator is not remembered, but Guru Gobind Singh described the site of his complete awakening very precisely. It was a real place and the experience he had there - also very real.
Guru Gobind Singh said God asked him to take one more birth before liberating himself completely from the cycle of birth and death. God asked him to come back and guide people directly to the experience of the One. The problem, God told him, was that other religious and spiritual people were supposed to be guiding humanity to God, but really - out of ego- they were just getting themselves worshipped and forgetting the job they were there to do. Out of love for the Divine, Guru Gobind Singh agreed.
What God created through Guru Gobind Singh was a spiritual discipline that does not depend on any human being, but only on our own commitment and consciousness for spiritual awakening. The Guru guides us on the path to wisdom. The lifestyle of the Khalsa gives us dignity and grace in every day life. And our awakening, ultimatley, it up to what is inside of us, not what is outside of us. It was God's way of giving humans another path to Him - one where no one can fool us. Except ourselves. :)
