Summary of Question:Re: Marrying a black man...

Hi ,

I can truly understand your mental turmoil on this issue. I went through this process of marrying a Caucasian women few years ago against the advice of my elders and I truly regret it now. Even though she was very open and "broad-minded" at that time, over the years the truth became extremy bitter. I was induced into attending church services instead of gurudwara. I was looked down upon for talking with my parents who are in India. I lost all my Sikh friends.... The story keeps going. Needless to say, I was totally cut of and abondoned from my community and my roots. The breaking point came when she tried doing the same thing with my daughter. I decided to terminate the relationship. I feel very refreshed and happy now.

You might think that I am giving you a lecture on morality and trying to act like an old-timer but this is far from being true. I was in your position few years ago and it would pain me to see one of my Sikh sisters going through the same pain. Be strong, THINK, THINK, THINK, and please be REALISTIC. Love will not last long and soon reality will bite - and it will be painfull!!!!

Sat Sri Akal.
