Summary of Question:I Need Help Translating Something.
Category:General Q's from Non-Sikhs

I have been researching for several days online looking for a site in which I can translate some mantras and other scriptures I have found. They are in different dialects and languages but mostly within the Buddhist religion. I am working on a peice of art which will feature some of these scriptures but am finding it very difficult to get them translated. Is there anyway that you can help me?

What do the following articles I have found mean?

1.Om nama shivaya. [I believe I have heard this before during yoga classes. I was told it means 'To honor the divine within.']

2.jai ganesh deva

3.yam bramha vedante vido vadanti. param pradhaanam purusham tathaanay. vishod gatay kaaranam waa. taamai namo vignah vinashaaya.

4.jai shankar bhole

5.This was listed as the Gayata Mantra: what does Gayata mean?
Also: bhoor aum bhuvan swah, tat avitur verenyam, bhargo devasya dheemahi, dhiya i nah prachaodayaat.

What I am essentially looking for is this: I need the traditional scripture for a prayer of protection in the Yapeya catagory. The artwork I am planning on creating will need the actual Khmer scripting for the wording I will use. However I wish to use traditional wording as much as possible.

Thank you so much for your help.

Treyci,
These are not Sikh mantras. Find English buddhist websites and contact them for help. You might also look for Hindu websites. Sounds like the language here is Sanskrit. Sikh scripture is not written in Sanskrit. Many Hindu and (depending) Buddhist scripture/mantra are in Sanskrit. Good luck.
