This is in response the the question of "beginning of Karma"

I too had this question. I think this questions comes from a "too educated, western mind". Instead of trying to wash the karma I currently had with paath, and naam simran, I was always trying to find out what the "first sin" was. I mean, it had to come from somewhere right?

So I finally asked the GianiJi at my local Gurudwara. He didn't anwer my question, as I don't think we as human beings have the "budhi" to understand this. Just like the water droplet cannot understand the ocean, we cannot understand the Guru. Took me years to understand this phrase. The water droplet is part of the ocean, as we are part of the Guru. But the water droplet can't see or understand the vastness of the ocean. This is true about us and the Guru.

The GianiJi told me to forget about this question, and work on my Karma now. Instead of worrying when the first sin "started" and how, work on "washing" our souls.

Religion is about faith, science is about answers/proof. This answer does exist, it will be in the SGGS Ji. All answers that science, you and I have will be answered in GuruJi.

But anyway, I took the GianiJi's advice, left the science, took it at faith, and have been happier since. I hope this helps you with your question.

WJKK, WJKF!
(REPLY) Sat Nam. I agree. Wasting time in intellectual pursuit of a question that has no relevance to living our lifes here and now, is pretty much what Guru NAnak says in Japji Sahib, when he reminds us that we cannot find God through "cleverness" and that "Thinking and thinking" don't bring liberatioin. Thanks for your reply. Blessings, SP
