SOMETIMES PEOPLE ASK ME WHY I HAVE SUCH LONG HAIR, AND WHY I DON'T CUT IT? WELL I SOMETIMES HAVE A HARD TIME ANSWERING PEOPLE ABOUT IT. MY ANSWER IS VERY BROAD. I JUST SAY THAT IT IS PART OF MY RELIGION. CAN YOU PLESE HELP ME HELP ME FIND ANOTHER, BETTER, AND/OR MORE DETAILED WAY OF ANSWERING THIER QUESTIONS? THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND I WOULD APPRICIATE A ANSWER SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Sat Nam, I just responded to a similar question, but I don'tknow if you can access it, so just briefly,: We Sikhs do not cut our hair because we want to live as closely as possible to how God made us. No matter how often we cut it, He makes it grow again! Hair is like an antenna which picks up energy from the sea of energy in which we live. In the Bible, there is a story of Delilah who cut off Samson's hair while he was asleep, and he lost all his power. We believe God knows what He's doing, and created us creatures wisely. Also, the Father of the Khalsa, Guru Gobind Singh told us to keep our hair, and even in the Ardas, we ask God for the "gift" of "kesh" - hair. It also makes us identifiable, especially when it's covered by the crown of a turban! I hope that helps a little. Blessings with love, SP
