Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh.

Brothers and Sisters, it is a matter of great concern that our Gurdwara's are becoming the center of media attention due to two seperate factions fighting over how to manage a gurdwara.

I know of two such cases in recent times in California, Freemont Gurdwara issues hit the media a few days a go, and locally in Sacramento another gurdwara is also entangled in legal battles. Ther have been many others in the past.

My concern is that the pilars of our society and religion are being rediculed and belittled in the legal system. Which gives concern to the issue of value and faith in general.

Further more: How can we expect to progress as a community, and lead our younger generations to become the leaders of tomorrow. If we provide such poor examples of leadership ourselves.

On one side we have our granthis teaching us that the guru's word through the guru granth sahib is the ultimate word. Yet on the other side we resort to taking our petty issues through the legal system. Showing that the ultimate word belongs to the legal system and not the guru.

Should it not be a priority to teach our younger generations through our gurdwaras the values of family life, virtues and respect of the guru's teachings.

Finally to our aspiring leaders, is it too much to ask and expect that if you aspire to lead the community through your seva of administration of the local seats and tenants of our faith. Then you also accept the responsibilities and duties that come with assuming those positions:

Serve the designated time.
Be responsible.
Resolve differences amicably, professionally and virtously
When in crisis, use the means established within the Guidelines of the guru, guru granth sahib and Sadh Sangat.
If necessary step aside.
Above all avoid demeaning the name and teachings of our Gurus, through the channals of media and judiciary.

I welcome thoughts and input from my fellow brothers and sisters. In the hope of trying to create a better understanding of working together and furthering the name and words of our Gurus.

Sat shri Akal.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and views with the youth here on the forum. There's a saying. "Walk the talk." Let's hope we see it soon from some of these leaders.
