Why are Sikhs not allowed to cry at a funeral?

Thank you
Rachel
(REPLY) Sat Nam. We are human, and most likely may cry, but excessive weeping and wailing are insulting to God, who has decidedd to bring the soul back Home. All things come from God, and all things go back to God, including us. Furthermore, when we make a big dramatic show of weeping and wailing, it can pull the soul back down to Earth, instead of allowing the graceful exit to merge with Akal Purkh. We chant AKAAL in order to FREE the soul from the bondage and limitations of the -- Earth plane. If we must weep, it can be done privately -- but prayers should be offered to bless the departing soul and allow liberation to be achieved. SP
