GURDWARA means Guru's Gate. It is the building or room housing the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, which is the Guru of Gursikhs. It is also the common name of the worship service conducted at or in a Gurdwara.

So, when one enters a Gurdwara, one passes through the Door to the Guru.
