I am writing in response to the question about why Sikh women do not find men with beards and turbans attracrtive. I cannot say that I am surprised but I do have a lot of respect for the young man for asking!
In my experience, (I am 17 by the way), I have learnt quite a lot about what appearances mean to people! The truth is that the appearance of a true Sikh man who has a turban and a beard of the "True" image of a man! The Gurbani states:
"A man with a full head of hair is half a man,
A PROPER man has dresses in Shastres"
So, my friend, tell me what that says about men with cut hair? Not very manly at all. But the problem is you see that it takes a REAL woman to recognise a real man! Because I know what Gurbani says about men with cut hair, I have a lot of respect for men with un-cut hair! I know it is not easy, but I do not want you to believe that there is any dis-respect for people who have cut hair, because I believe that respect is earnt through actions, and not by the length of your hair.
The image of a 'true' Sikh man is of a Warrior! They weren't meant to look 'Pretty'!!!! But people now-a-days people are so insecure that they feel intimidated by your apperance, and us kureeya might even feel like we are not worthy of your attention! They would rather go for a man with un-cut hair because of what his image says about his character! -so in this respect, you are
way better off!
The pagh-dari earns a lot of respect for women who recognise it's true meaning!
I'd like you to know that there are women who are attracted to it, but very few. Because it takes a big woman to respect a man and to look for the right things in him!
