Sat sri akal ji,

I know many sikh people, and i love the passion the share for their religion. I have been to going to gurdwaras for a while with some of my friends. But i have a question....why do u bow in front of the guru grant sahib? I mean if there is only one God, the Ultimate Creator, why do you bow? Should you not save your ultimate respect for god himself? That is confusing me also are the gurus considered god, of are they prophets leading the way to god? And do you consider the guru grant sahib a god also? Because if so this sorta starting to sound like hinduism, ( no offence). Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and i appreciate it greatly. May God be with you. Please do not take offence I have a very inquiring mind, and i want to learn as much as possible.

Greetings to you in the Name of God the light of every soul and in the Name of Guru the life of every Sikh.

Dear one, so much experience lies ahead for you. This is a good question.

Siri Guru Granth Sahib is our very special conduit to God consciousness. Guru contains the actual experience of God through sound, Shabd, and through instruction, wisdom. There is no other place on this earth that will give you the direct experience of God as the Siri Guru Granth Sahib does.

This is the one place where we can bow to the Infinite, and through this action of submission, feel the power of Infinity inside of us.

Your forehead contains your destiny. All your intuitive power comes from this place. When you place your forehead at the "Feet of the Guru" it is like bowing at the doorway to God. Your destiny point merges with the destiny point of the Guru. Here you recieve a blessing.

Next time you go to the Guru, present yourself in a regal and prayerful way. Prepare yourslf by bathing and dressing very regally as you were to have a date with God. Then stand tall and begin your prayer before God and Guru, place your offering on the hem of the Guru's robe(ramalas)....and place your forehead on the floor and hold it there for an entire recitation of Muhl Mantra. This is your meditation. Practice this and experience for yourself the power of this place called the "Feet of the Guru" the "Door to God consciousness".

There was a wise prophet who said that where you bow you shall be blessed. Take this blessing and practice this until you have a clear understanding.

Another daily practice to give you more experience is to read the English translation of Jap Ji Sahib at: http://www.sikhnet.com/s/gurugranthsahib daily........................take some time to immerse yourself in the beauty of the God/Guru dimension of life.

God bless you, SKKK
