Gur Pyarri Sadh Sangat Jio - Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki fathe

this message is not meant to offend anyones beleif system, but Boy this original message hurt. I thought that your question deserved a more direct answer.

the person before wrote that

"keeping kesh was introduced by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, so isn't keeping your kesh only applied to people who follow the path of Khalsa? I mean if you cut your hair but still follow the rules of Sikhism, you are still a Sikh or is Sikhism only based around keeping your kesh?"

you have made the fundamental mistake of allowing your mind to think that Sikhs and khalsa are different.

Khalsa is the name given to Amritdhari Sikhs, who have taken amrit and now belong the army of god! it is the collective name given to the brotherhood (which includes females) of sihks

Khalsa, is the army of god(Khalsa Akal Purkh ki fauj)khalsa was formed by the will of god (pargatiyo khalsa, parmatam ki mauj)

some people beleive that Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh are different people,I remember someone sayin to me I beleive in Guru Nanak but not in guru Gobind Singh, because guru gibind doesnt let you eat meat and cut your hair etc etc. This is totally false, Guru Gobind Singh and Guru Nanak were the same. and gave the same message.

Guru Nanak said to bhai Mardana, that if you wish to stay with me, and gain everything, you must follow these 3 rules

1. Dont cut your hair
2. Never waste Amrit Vela (time of meditation)
3. Kirat karo and Vand Shako (work with your own hands and share your food wit others)

As to the reasons for keeping hair, the excellent and knowledgable moderators of this forum have given the answer many times, just do a search in QA forum under hair.

I dont mean any offence, bue when I get time I will reply again to this question, and give you the example, which proves why guru Gobind Singh and guru Nanak and all the other gurus...yes including guru granth sahib ji is the same person.

Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa
Wahe Guru Ji ki Fateh!

Thank you for your reply. You are absolutely right. All the Gurus are one and the same in consciousness. Each one manifested a unique facet of the same jewel.

Sat Nam. YES! Well stated above! As Sikhs, we ALL worship the Siri Guru Granth Sahib as our living Guru, right? Well, our Shabd Guru was the culmination of the magnificent divine teachings of all of the first Ten Gurus. They each carried the same Divine Light and inspiration. They each called themselves "Nanak" in their writings! So, to stop with the first Guru Nanak would mean to ignore the other Nanaks-- which include Guru Gobind Singh. SP
