Respected Sir,

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!

I love to hear live kirtan from Sri Darbar Sahib. If for some cause I miss kirtan, I think that I have missed a great thing. Its true also.
I wake up at four and first thing do is switch on the radio, then go to the washroom. My mother use to tell me to switch off the radio before going to loo, which I hate. Please tell me, am I wrong? Is it wrong if I can hear kirtan in the washroom also?

Guru Fateh,

Sat Siri Akaal. Even our Gurus used the loo! The Siri Guru tells us many times to remember the naam with every breath. Does it say to stop for those times we might be taking care of personal business in the washroom? No. If it keeps the peace, turn it off. But it seems to me that upon arising, your are working to keep your mind on the naam, and why not have it on the naam even in the loo? So no, it is not wrong to have it on when in the washroom. It actually breaks up the naad of the kirtan to turn it off and on like that.
Guru ang sang,
-DKK
