WaheGuru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh,

Well, with everything that is been going on in my life, after 2.5 yrs of path everday, never missed it, this week couple days went by when i dint perform any nitnem, and now i have lost all faith in the almighty, all of it. But, i still continue to do path because Guru Nanak Patsha said soo. I had tried everything, staying up all nights doing path and kirtan, ardas everday asked for only one thing, never got it. But, its like inside of me suddenly lost all feelings, and faith towards waheguru is gone, just gone, i do not know what happnened, but i dont think there are any affects of banis. i dont what to do
Guru khalsa Fateh

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Loss of Faith is a sad, sad state of mind. You don't know what your life would have been, and will be, without the Guru's bani. Just because you don't "get what you want" does that mean God doesn't exist? How do you know that what you have asked for is really best for you? Faith has to do with ACCEPTING God's will, even when it is unpleasant or undesirable, trying to make the best of whatever God does give you -- and that is a lot! Do you have both arms and legs? Do you have enough to eat, and a place to sleep that is sheltered? Everytime you inhale, it is God's prana, God's breath is keeping you alive so you can experience God's creatiion and pay off your karma. Reading Banis helps to clear away the garbage of fear, insecurity, anger, resentment, jealously etc. that is in our subconscious minds. Reciting banis helps to purify the mind so that the divine light within can shine forth.
we don't know what we may have accumulated in our subconscious that needs to be erased (like re-recording on a cassette tape) and replaced with a higher, nobler state of mind. Faith is often tested, and it seems that is what is happening to you. Do you think it takes "faith" to believe in something when everything is smooth and easy and you "get what you want?" No, it's when things are down and darkest, that when you really need to have faith. Did Guru Arjan "lose faith?" Did Guru Teg Bahadur lose faith? They set examples for us of courage, faith, and devotion. YOu can go without bathing for a day or two, (not reading your banis) but just as your body will start to stink after too many days without cleansing, similarly, your mind will stink if you don't keep cleaning it with the purifying words of the banis. May God bless you and Guru guide you to your highest destiny. SP
