Summary of Question:Re: Why I Chose Sikhism
Category:General Sikhism

First off, regarding "why i chose sikhism" i meant to say: I am sure there are sikhs who do unholy things and have there faluts. Every religion has its good and bad people. Sorry for the confusion. Second, we cant expect the Islamic men to stop this by acusing them of following a "false" faith. Lets kill them with kindness, report this to the authoritys and teach other faiths about sikhi while NOT bashing other religions. And a question to the moderators, i was always taught to believe that regardless of religion, anyone can reach "salvation". Now the lines from the SGGS that the creators of the website have caused me to question what the SGGS REALLY says. Is it true that the gurus said that hindus and muslims are "blind". If so, i am really lost on how to live. And i heard some from someone that the gurus had more than one wife, is this true? and if so why did they do this? Also, what is Sikhi's view on Gay marriages? Abortion? Aliens?

I know these are a lot of question so thank you for taking your time, it is greatly apprecated. Thanks

Your original attitude that all religions lead to the same God is totally a Sikh teaching. That is why the Guru often talks about the four doors of the Gurdwara being open to all directions and peoples. Who is blind? Many Sikhs are blind. In this day and age, we have to embrace and respect diversity. We are all God's children. As far as the Guru's having more than one wife...there is confilicting reports of this. We must not judge them according to our 21st Century culture and values. In many cultures in the past men had more than one wife because of the economics of the times or because children were needed to tend to the fields, etc, etc. We can't judge what was necessary for those times. As far as abortion, aliens and gay marriage, the Guru doesn't speak of these things. He does speak about compassion, kindness, unconditional love and consciousness. You have to evaluate your own consciousness to decide what is best for you. Blessings. GTKK
