Let me first say, that I pray your decision will bring you complete happiness, joy and love. It is my opinion that happiness, and the Grace of God/Waheguru, comes from the essence of one's soul and not the material of one's body. I do not believe that God/Waheguru will discriminate a human being for being pure, whether he be turbaned or unturbaned.
Ask yourself why you are undecisive about this man. Is it only because of your image of Guru Gobind Sing Ji? Did he not fit the image? Note that this is only an image. In any case, dont you think you are doing an injustice to a supreme being like Guru Gobind Singh by comparing him with men of today, and like-wise don't you think you are being unfair to this man by comparing him to Guru Gobind Singh. My point is that there is no comparision.
Discuss this with your father, tell him that not all turbuned sikhs are good/pure/better and that not all nonturbuned sikhs are bad/unpure/worse....i presume that you are happy with this man, and let him know that your happiness is in jeopardy here...allow your father to understand your dilemma...I believe that if something was meant to happen it will, but sometimes we have to help it along.

Good Luck and alll the best
