I have been eating at restaurants for 30 years as a vegetarian. It is not that hard once you know what is available. Almost every restaraunt now has some vegetarian dishes like vege-burgers.
When you eat meat you take on the karma of the animal you eat. WE make enough karma ourselves without taking on more. To be liberated out of the cycle of reincarnation, you have to get rid of your karma. How can you do that while you are adding more and more every time you eat?
People make it sound like they are forced to eat meat. There is really only one reason to eat meat...because you want to. It is not necessary nutritionally, and is even harmful to long term health.
