Summary of Question:Religion and Life
Category:General Sikhism

I believe that all religions are equal in the sense that they all strive to the same goal (A God). I live my life on the basis of Truth, Love, Honesty and Respect of EVERY living creature. I am not a Sikh follower, nor am I am follower of any particular faith/religion. I respect all religions. My idea of life is that it should be valued and you must value the Earth and people around you. God made you and everything else, so you should respect it. I don't believe that you need to be part of any religion to lead a peaceful life, as long as you understand that your life needs to be lived in a balanced way. Treat yourself and others (no matter what colour or race) with the greatest respect. Experience has taught us that everyone is the same, they come from the same source. God made us all. So my question to you is, am I less of a person if I don't follow the Sikh religion and become a baptised Sikh. Isn't it enough to be a good human being ?

No one can claim that Sikhism is the ONLY path to realization of the God within each of us. But Sikhism does teach us the MEANS for that realization.

You have already accomplished the FIRST goal by your code of conduct.

According to Guru Granth Sahib (the present and forever Guru of the Sikhs), PRAYER and ACCEPTANCE of the Supreme Being as our Lord God, ought also be part of our daily living.

Prayer can be of many kinds. Sikhism teaches us a way thru Guru Granth.

Humbly

Jasjit
