Wahe Guru Ji Kha Khalsa

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.
I would like to know the meaning of Ardas. Is it true that when we are desperate and would like Guru ji to help us, we have to Ardas? Can we ask Guru ji to help us when we are in the dangerous situation? Will Guru ji helping everyone who asking from him? The last question is, I've heard that before Guru Gobind Singh Ji going out for a war he did the Chaupuey Sahib. Is this a kind of Ardas and what is the different between the regular one and Chaupuey Sahib?
I really satisfy with the answers you gave to the Sikh Youths. Please show me the way of being a good Sikh.

Confuse guy. :)

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Ardas means prayer or supplication.

Ardas can be the ardas we say at every gurdwara just before the hukum, but supplication to Guruji is not limited to THAT ardas. Throughout Siri Guru, the last line of many hukums says: "Binavant Nanak..." which means "Nanak prays...." So you can imagine all the prayers for a stable mind, the blessing of the Naam, the Guru's protection, etc, that "Binavant Nanak" refers to.

Any sincere prayer or supplication to Guru for assistance, protection, or 'emergency help' will be answered in SOME form, maybe not right away. Sometimes we do not see how Guru has helped us until AFTER a situation. But you must not hesitate to call on Guru in any time of need. A good mantra for help is the first slok of Sukhmani: Aad Guray Nameh, Jugaad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Nameh Siri Guru Dayv Ay-Nameh. But any prayer you say to Guru will be heard.

Benati Chaupa-ee of Guru Gobind Singh was his personal prayer for protection, and he did indeed recite this before battle.

Guru ang sang,
