Sat Sri Akal.

I am a Sikh living in the UK and i have a question. On my way to school every morning i am not safe, because the town i live in has become very dangourous with theives and muggers. Us School childeren are confronted everyday and asked for money and mobile phones, if we say "no, i havent got anything" we are told that were're going to get beaten up. (most of the time) i find this really depressing, and worrying. Its put me off my school work and studies. But Sikhi teaches that you should not fear anyone and give fright to none. Please help me..what do i do??

Firstly, you should not be plagued by these problems on your way to school. You should definitely ask for help. You need some help here so do not hesitate!!!! It is rightous to care for yourself and others.
Here are some suggestions:
1.Request that your parents and parents of your friends get together and start a car pool to take turns driving you all to school and pick you up. If one parent does not have the time or money, then let them pitch in to pay for a taxi when their turn comes.

2. Talk to your guidence counselor about school bus transportation or other possible solutions. You definitely need help and should be safe going to from school. I think that this is the schools responsibility.

3. Find out if there is another school that you can attend in a better neighborhood.

4. Along with the above suggestions also find weekly kung fu, or karate or aikido classes that you can take (from a good teacher)to build your confidence.
