i have seen so many people having a mala in their hands and doing simran. is it correct to do so? if it is correct practice then why do we do it?
i am confused.
as per gurmat i want to know what is correct practice of simran and at what time?

Sat nam. Malas are fine to use when practicing simran. Use of mala can help focus the mind.
Time for simran is given in japji: "amrit vaylaa such naa-o vadhiee-ai veechar."
