Sat Siri Akaal. Yes, that is often the case. This care is in the form of laying groundrules, setting boundaries and trying to protect the child. They are often trying to protect children from the scarier things of this world, and sometimes they are trying to protect children from actions that the children will regret later, or that the parents would be embarrassed to know about. What is perceived by a child as strict by other adults is seen as instilling a sense of discipline and strong sense of ethics (what is right, what is wrong). Some parents are overly strict and do not let a child think for him/herself, and there are some parents whose strictness comes from a need to control. But mostly it is their idea of protecting their child, in some form. As you can see, strictness or not is in the eye of the beholder!
