Summary of Question:Re: Marrying nonturbuned sikh

I too am a 22 year old woman from a Gursikh family, dealing with a similar issue. I have very strong feelings for a man who does not (yet) wear a turban. I have told my parents about him and he is on his way to truly believing in the purpose of kes and turban. However, it is important to always remember what your own mission in life is. Your feelings of Sikhi will only get stronger as you get older and want to start a family- ask your elders. Although love is important, it is even more important that you fulfill your dreams of having a Sikh family, a harmonious family. It is hard enough in this society, you don't need the added problems of a man who does not believe in the same things as you. I constantly remind myself of this responsibility that Guru Ji has given us. I am prepared to let this man go if he cannot commit to being a Gursikh. My dear sister, I know your pain, but let's stick together and continue Sikhism. It is up to us. With the Guru's love, we will make the right decisions, and pleas
e have faith that the right thing will happen. If he is meant to be your soulmate, he will be a full Sikh. Don't settle for anything less!!!
