Summary of Question: | Heaven And Hell |

I had a question regarding these quotes that were given in an answer to the question of meat. Both quotes mention going to hell. From what I have learned, Sikhisim does not believe in heaven in hell but rather the different life forms.
If you could clarfiy this for me it would be great.
Thanks :)

"Kabir, those mortals who consume marijuana, fish and wine - no matter what pilgrimages, fasts and rituals they follow, they will all go to hell."

"The world eats dead carcasses, living by neglect and greed. Like a goblin, or a beast, they kill and eat the forbidden carcasses of meat. So control your urges, or else the Lord wil throw you into hell."
REPLY:
The word "hell" is a translation into english that brings with it many connotations. This sounds like a problem of symantics. The Siri Guru Granth Sahib does not describe "hell" in the Christian sense of fire and brimstone for eternity, but in the sense of burning in maya for millions of lifetimes; caught in the cycle of births and deaths because of one's karma (or actions).
