Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.

I am a Sikh man of 35 years old. I have recently lost my mother who passed away a year ago. Since her death I constantly question the existance of God. My mother believed in God until he last breath on earth. I would like to think that she is somewhere, however I am now at a crossroads between believing and not believing. I am surrounded by people, elders who think they are "pure" Sikh, but all have Kam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh, Ahankar. I myself included. I have seen or met anyone who can answer the questions I put to them. What does the Gurbani or any another religion not mention the dinosour, stone, ice ages. Why does it not mention the evolution of man?
I have two small children who don't know much about Sikhi, my 4 year old constantly tells me if there is a God then why did her mama have to die? I don't have the answers. I hope one day she may except the loss of her beloved grandmother.
I acept that no-one lived forever, nut my mother never harmed anybody she was always helping people who were less fortunate.

I want to believe, not sure if I do

Jagdeep Singh

Jagdeep Singh,

Your mother was a saintly woman. She is living with God. What could be more blessed than that? That is the purpose of life...to finish our karmas and go to God. Don't mock her life and beliefs by questioning. She would want you to embrace and celebrate her life and liberation. Help your daughter to understand this as well.

Your mother is not gone. She is not with you in the same way as before, but she is there...in your heart. But if you question, you will not be able to feel her radiance right within you. Allow your self to develop a new relationship with your mother, one that can be even more powerful and meaningful. Celebrate her life by being the best you can. Be kind to all and praise God. Isn't that what she would want? Isn't that what she was and how she raised you? Let me know how it goes. GTKK
