"""but agree that her family did not act according to Sikh values, only according to Indian/caste cultural values, which as you have experienced, still bind and divide us"""
What kind of answer is that? Do Indians force their caste prejudices, when Sikhs are not Hindus and do not live like Hindus and when Sikh religon is not administered by Hindus, HOW CAN YOU BLAME SIKHS CASTE PREJUDICES ON HINDUS????????
Sikhs procalim to be a separate group with only the similarities being: Names of Hindu Gods and Goddeses in their scriptures, all their Gurus being born in Hindu families, use of Hindu terms like prasad, kirtan, concept ek- omkar (from the Upanishads), vegetarianism, pratcice hindu Yoga.
On one hand you forsake your Hindu roots and claim your religon as being above all others, and on the other practice Casteism and blame Hindus for it!!
You are a confused lot!!! The Khalistan is in your turbans!! (Khaali- stan)

My dear friend:
As per the rules of this forum and our cultures let me remind you of the need to manitain dignity as there is no need to be disrespectful in our dialogue.
Yes, the practice of caste is wrong and actually does not adhere to sikh values and I wonder even if it is a true representation of Hindu values. However, Caste happen as a matter of fact to be Hindu in origin.
Some Sikhs and also others have aquired both good things and some bad things that exist in India. We have rich language, art and music - Fantastic! and we have the caste system and coruption etc(shame) . One can ask why do Hindus practice caste discrimination when it is not to cause such pain and strife?
yes... This is not just sikh question but one for humanity. We focus on uplifting values and we will adopt all good things working to embrace humanity.
With Blessings
