Summary of Question:My Karma Must Be Bad!!
Category:Other
Date Posted:Monday, 8/06/2001 7:01 PM MDT

I wanted to ask you a question and I hope that you can help me!!

My mom fights with everyone. You name a person and she has probably fought with that person. She tries to get even with people, picks fights with people for no reasons, swears at people, stuff along those lines. I believe that my karma is bad and also my dad's and brother's. I think that the reason we never succeed in life is because of her. My brother has had 3 marriages, my dad doesn't really think that he has a life to live for. I am getting mariied in England soon , and I know that she'll pick fights with my relatives there. She doesn't listen to reason. My question is : Is there anything that I can do to improve my karma and fro the rest of my family?? Your response and any other
insight that you can give would be mostly appreciated!!!Thank you!!

My heart goes out to you. Yes, you can make choices to mold your future. First and foremost, make the Guru your Beloved, your ever companion and friend. Take all of your problems and joys to Him. Second, recognize that your are not your mother. For some reason God gave you her as a mother. Instead of feeling like a victim and "doomed" because you had her as a Mataji, transform your attitude. Think of all of the things you have learned because of her rudeness. Like, being nice to people, listening to others, speaking with kindness. There are probably so many things you have learned. See it as a blessing, not a curse. Third, recognize that your life can be different. You have learned from her...atleast what not to do. Fourth, make sure that your wife-to-be is not like your mother. Many times we unconscioiusly marry one of our parents. If we are very conscious, we can choose differently. Fifth, with kindness, stand up for what you want in your life...to your mother, your in-laws and everyone. Just
like Guru Gobind Singh taught us that we can work with the Guru to create our futures, you can as well. Keep the Guru in your heart always and ask for His help to create a joyful, kind and fulfilling life for you, your wife and children. And remember, by creating joy in your life, you will break the karmic pattern of dispair and unhappiness in your parents's soul. You may not see it, but on a soul level it will be broken. You have to live your life for you and your future generations. Your model may uplift them. Seeing you happy will also make your father happy. In Guru's grace, GTKK
