Summary of Question:Way To Do Kirtan Sohila
Category:General Sikhism

I have been told that one should sit at the place where our legs are on bed while reciting Kirtan Sohila and the face should be in a position similar to the one as if we had just got up from lying position. Is this right or is there some different way. I have doing KIrtan Sohila path since few years, but sometimes i get very bad dreams...why it is so.

Kirtan Sohila path eliminates negative thoughts or elements for miles and miles, then why such dreams come. Please clear my doubt.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. I am not aware of any particular posture required during the recitation of Kirtan Sohila. Bad dreams come from the subconscious mind, and so you might consider playing a CD of Gurbani Kirtan (it can be played very softly) while you sleep. Also, a very practical thing, avoid eating right be fore you go to bed! Also, don't go to bed thirsty. If the body is dehydrated, it is disturbing to the nervous system, and that could be causing the bad dreams. Are you reading the other banis in the morning? And Rehiras in the evening? Each of these brings necessary and useful vibrations and blessings, and help to uplift the mind. SP
