Summary of Question:	Second Marriage For Boy

Hi, I am realy realy depresses now these days. I need to know what does Sikhism says about a guy who wants to get married second time just because he does not have a son but has a daughter. I don't know what to say when he argue me "Why did our Gurus had more than one wife". If we suppose to follow our Guru's preaching and their path,why can't second marriage also?

I don't have answer for that. Please.........Please.........give me an answer. Thankyou so much.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. I believe that whether one is blessed with a son or a daughter, it is God's will, and one should be grateful for whatever God gives. Incidentally, it is illegal to have more than one wife. It is a sad state of affairs in this day and age that a man would even consider taking a second wife just because his ego wants a son! The path of the Gurus is to accept God's will, to be kind to all, and to have an attitude of gratitude for everything (even the challenges) that life presents. Let us live in the present, and if we can't have the best, make best of what we have! (By the way, women are not inferior to men, Guru Nanak was very clear about respect for women!) SP
