Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Belated Happy New Year to all the Sikhs!

I'm not sure who gave the answer to the original question "When is the Sikh New Year?", but I wish they had done some research before stating "January first, just like everyone elses."

January 1 is the New Year according to the Julian Calendar/Gregorian Calendar/Christian Calendar, etc. And, yes it is followed by the vast majority of the world, but certainly it isn't the Sikh New Year.

The Sikh New Year was on March 14, 2004 (Chet 1, 536). For all those proclaiming Baisakhi as the Sikh New Year, this is not correct. Baisakh is the 2nd month.

Fateh!

(REPLY) Thanks for the clarification.

When is the Sikh New Year?

(REPLY) Sat Nam. January first, just like everyone elses. However, if you're talking about the celebration of Baisakhhi, the anniversary of the first giving of the Amrit Parchar, that takes place on April 14th every year.
