Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Waheguru Ji ki Fateh.

Relating back to the scientific reason, This has been proven in a study at a University that throughtout the life of people, people who have long hair tend to be less tired, more energetic and less likely to become depressed. People who have long hair also conserve energy. Did you know that an average person who has shorn hair wastes his body's energy. A person who cuts his hair the body makes 22 meters of total hair growth in their life while a person who keeps their hair only produces 1.5 meters of hair. Why waste all that energy when oyu are going to cut it anyways.
Also when people go to the Dharam Raja, what are they going to say to him? Why didn't you live the life you were supposed to? Remember that we only get the "sikhy" life after 8.4 million lifes and this is the only one we can remeber the lord. Refer to rahiraas Aissa Mahilla 5, before Chaupee.
The only answer you are going to have when you meet the dharam raja is everybody else was doing it. You came to this earth by yourself and you are going to leave by yourself.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Waheguru Ji ki Fateh.
